SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY ASSISTANT NEEDED

The Speech & Hearing Center, a program of Signal Centers, is looking for a full-time speech-language pathologist assistant (SLPA) to provide treatment services to patients with communication deficits. This individual will be mostly in a clinical-based setting targeting a pediatric caseload. Some community speech and hearing screenings, as well as school speech therapy may also be included.

HOURS: Flexible / Clinic open Monday-Friday 8 to 5:30 p.m.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Performing speech-language screenings to children and adults, making the appropriate recommendations as needed. This may include further testing, referral to other agencies or direct enrollment in a therapy program.
  • Administering therapy, which includes establishing treatment goals and conducting individual or group therapy sessions, in order to achieve pre-set goals.
  • Performing consultative and counseling services to individuals and family members with communication deficits.
  • Maintaining patient clinical files, which may include diagnosis, assessment reports, progress reports, discharge summaries, plan of treatment, letters of correspondence and chronological documentation of events related to the patient’s care.
  • Working with the director of speech-language pathology to ensure that all screenings and therapy sessions are scheduled promptly. The SLPA will be responsible for his/her clinical schedule, monitoring time frames and utilizing time efficiently.
  • Working in collaboration with on-site physical and occupational therapists to provide comprehensive care for patients.
  • Participating in public service activities and marketing functions to promote the Center in the community, as needed.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:                           

  • Completed SLPA program of study with 100 hours of field experience supervised by a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP)
  • Ability to register with the Tennessee Board of Communications Disorders and Sciences
  • Complete 5 hours of continuing education per year
  • Bilingual specialty a plus
